'The Wallflower' by Abbey Merson
'The Wallflower'
An original artwork by Hastings artist, Abbey Merson.
Painted in 2024 as part of my first NZ Art show collection.
In this series of work, the faces of the subjects are always concealed. The focus is on the actions and movement as something is being carried or brought. Each painting explores the simple beauty of everyday life; picking out vegetables at a market, pruning the hedges, or heading off to catch up with friends with a loaf of bread and some blooms.
These paintings celebrate our lives, living in NZ and the joy found in small, meaningful actions.
